SENTINELCounty supervisors may approve Lockeford
Advisory council today
By News-Sentinel staff
The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors may approve a new
municipal advisory council for Lockeford today.
If approved, the new council will advise county officials about
issues covering public works projects, public health, safety,
welfare, and land-use issues in the Lockeford area.
The MAC will consist of a seven-member board comprised of local
residents chosen in two groups.
The first four are composed of citizens who helped organize the
MAC while the other three were chosen by lot at a local meeting to
sit on the council.
The members will be Peter Bergman, Lani Eklund, Timothy Fowler,
Don Litchfield, Chris Littlefield, Robert Marty and Roy Wales.
Lockeford will be the fifth MAC established by the board in San
Joaquin County following French Camp, Linden, Morada and
Woodbridge.
County Supervisor Jack Sieglock brought the MAC’s formation to
the board for approval and doesn’t expect any changes to the
proposal.
If the council is approved, its first order of business will be
to determine which members will fill four two-year terms available
and who will take the remaining three four-year terms, Sieglock
said.
The elected terms will not begin until 2004.
Other items scheduled to be discussed at the meeting today:
• Approval and adoption of a plan to resurface Peltier Road and
setting a bid date to July 18 for construction work.
• A proposed election technology study report that will
evaluate the San Joaquin County’s current voting system and make
recommendations for improvements.
• Acceptance of a trauma planning grant that will provide for
the creation of a committee, which will oversee the development of
a trauma plan for San Joaquin County.
The board meeting begins at 8:45 a.m. in Stockton
